This PhD research investigates the differing forms of assistance available to law students to help them with their law dissertation writing service in UK universities. This research examines how students obtain academic support for their dissertation, the difficulties they encounter in completing their dissertation, and the effectiveness of current support mechanisms. Through interviews of law students and their supervisors, the research identifies the gap between law dissertation help that is available to law students and what they require to assist them in completing their law dissertation. Results reveal that, whilst universities provide multiple support mechanisms, most students are either unaware of the existence of the various support mechanisms or the support mechanisms do not adequately assist them in undertaking legal research. This research will contribute to the body of literature regarding legal education by providing practical recommendations to improve the support provided to law students to help them complete their law dissertation.
